Ten Tips for A Cool, Comfortable, and Healthy Summer

1. Get a little Sunshine on Your Skin. Everyone needs a little sunshine every day to get Vitamin D activated. The Cooper Institute recommends that everyone, especially women, add Vitamin D to their lives. 15 minutes of sunshine on your skin without sunscreen is a good thing. And relaxing, too!

2. Let your Skin Cool You. The skin is a remarkably efficient air conditioner. Uncovering more skin will make you feel cooler. But if you're like me, you may not like sleeveless. Some can gap or expose straps. But try ours! We work really hard to have the best-cut armholes in the business. And our straps are wide enough to cover. I especially love our Tactel top that has an extra extension. It makes you feel like you're wearing a short sleeve, but it's a lot cooler. Enter the keyword "sleeveless" in the search box.

3. Lighten Up! Wear light and loose-fitting pants for maximum comfort. Give up the heavy jeans for summer wear, unless you are out on the farm or ranch and need the protection. You'll be amazed at the coolness of a light and loose pant. Enter the keyword 'light" in the search box for light and loose pant suggestions.

4. Shorts are for everyone-Really! If you think you can't wear shorts, think again. We've got special things to avoid chafing, riding up, and they come in lengths from short to Capri. And they even come in zip-off pants! Don"t deny yourself the pleasure you'll feel like a kid in shorter pants. Enter the keyword "shorts" in the search box.

5. Colorful Summertime Cottons. Our cotton knits are great summer time lifestyle items. For lounging and casual wear they can't be beat. Buy the new light summer colors and listen for the compliments. Avoid black! It"s just not as much fun, and besides it absorbs too much heat. Who needs that! Enter the keyword "colorful" in the search box.

6. Polyester is Designed for Wicking Action - Trust us on this one! You may have grown up thinking Polyester was the worst thing in the world, but trust me, it's not! When you sweat, you want the wicking power of these new high tech fabrics. They actually dry while you wear them, acting like a mobile air conditioner. They are light and smooth, and feel simply great on your body. If you buy one thing buy a wicking item and find out for yourself. Enter the keyword "wick".

7. Underwear is the answer. But read on for a biking secret. In the summer, try our boy short and bike shorts under your dresses. And our light support QwikWik® briefs are not to be missed. Remember, in the heat of the summer they 're healthier than cotton! They also dry in a flash, so they are perfect for travel. Look for wicking fabrics in your sport bras and tops, too, if you are walking even traveling. They add just that little extra comfort. Here's a biking secret: don't wear underwear under your padded bike shorts! The pad itself is covered in a wicking fabric, and you don't want the seaming in your undies to chafe. Too risqué? At least don't wear cotton briefs! Enter the keyword "summerwear" in the search box for suggestions.

8. Skirts and Dresses. Feel the Breeze If you are determined pant wearer get yourself at least one wonderful skirt. You may become a convert. Ours are cut for maximum flattery. Enter the keywords "skirt" or "dress" in the search box.

9. Layer for Weather and Sun Protection. At the beach or walking the dog, we have lots of ways to be ready for whatever the weather may bring. Rash guard tops for the beach that go right in and out of the water, loose fitting shirts and jackets that are perfect for a crisp summer evening on the patio. Zip-off pants and shorts that fit over a swimsuit. You'll be ready for anything. Enter the keyword "cover-up" in the search box.

10. Beat the Heat. It's all in your Mind (well, almost) Until I visited Malaysia in the heat of their summer a few years ago, I never really understood it when people said they loved to sweat. It took me several days there before I finally learned to slow down, and accept that sometimes you just gotta sweat! I finally noticed that my body sort of clicked in, and I started to feel much better. I still don't cope with heat as well as people who grow up in hot climates, but since my trip, the heat hasn't bothered me so much. I've turned the mental corner that it's OK to sweat. I've also learned that it's OK to not cover up my body. Believe me, the Britney Spears look was never on my agenda. My natural tendency is to gravitate to a lot more coverage! But I've learned. Now I love the light technical fabrics. As a result, I'm enjoying the warmer months so much more! When I'm active, I wear shorter tops, capris and shorter sleeves that stay out of my way. I've learned that my comfort is as lot more important than anyone else's opinion. It's more important to me to be enjoying my active life! So enjoy ALL of your summer!
