Company Background
Anne Kelly started the company with a
simple observation: larger women were not finding attractive
and well-made sports clothing to meet their needs. “I was
seeing a lot of women like me at the YMCA,” says Kelly,
“and I knew I was having a terrible time finding
things.” However, when Kelly met with tremendous
skepticism from investors at that time. She decided to go
forward anyway, starting on a shoestring.
Junonia issued its first 8-page catalog in March 1995,
from a one-room office in downtown Saint Paul.
Since then, the Eagan-based company has
grown to become the leading retailer exclusively
for women’s plus-size activewear in the
US. It now mails over 5 million catalogs a year.
The Junonia website is now a key component of
the company with the majority of customers choosing

Junonia does not operate any retail locations.
